CoreXY Printer

My attempt in making a decent sub-400 CoreXY printer to print ASA, PLA, etc.

This looks amazing! I'd build myself a copy if you document your steps & it preforms half decent.

What do I even do

Onshape is cool; I discovered Monolith CAD

So im going to spend a bunch of time understanding the Monolith gantry, how the belt is belted, etc.

I spent a bunch of time at Monoliths discord server, talking to people (a lot of them kept telling me i cant do it under 400 but womp womp ill try)

The main things I was understanding was if this was really a realistic goal, where/what the Monolith shit is, and what exactly do I want. I was understanding the decisions in the making of the gantry.

Apparently, this is 3 parts since its manufactured (so the parts can be flipped on each side. )

for a 3d printed gantry, I should be able to make this one part. Should I though? I dont entirely see why, exp bc ill need those 4 screws anyway to tighten both halves

Instead of wasting money on BTT CPAP ill likely use https://github.com/condottab/Roborock-CPAP for 15 dollars.

Apparently the main expenses in bigger 3dps is the bed, which i think makes sense. Worst case scenario, I just use a smol bed w bigger gantry

Im thinking of doing a 3dp bed as a separate project, and if im brave, which im not, a 3dp mainboard as a separate project.

I am forced into 2WD with no auto leveling since theres only 4 drivers built in. I have been stuck for a while between like 50 different choices so ill spend the next hours just making my own BOM. I more realistically spent like 5 hours :sob:

Basic Research

I did some basic research into the printer I want:

First I defined my goals:

  1. I want it auto leveling.
  2. I want it printing ASA, PLA, PETG, and ABS.
  3. I want it reasonably fast and cool.
  4. I want it using Kalico.

To do this, I will likely design a 3D printer similar to the Monolith Gantry (but not 160 dollars :skull:)

I'll keep the four motors since Nema 17s dont seem to be that expensive, and I think the benefits outweigh the costs.

Ill add 3 Nema 17s on the bed to allow for automatic bed leveling.

I will likely make my heated chamber frame out of wood.
