Gab's RC plane
I'm making a RC plane with styrofoam and some parts will be 3d printed. I will use servo motors, batteries, a transmitter , a receiver, a brushless motor, a propeller, a motor controller and a lot of wires and connectors !

Great work! Thanks for listening to previous feedback :) I'm assuming you just want tickets, right? If so, please put that in the note to reviewer and resubmit!

changed things
I made two new schematics/wiring diagram :

I completed my cad by making the tail wing :

I also changed some things in my repo to make it easier to understand

Hi, please read https://blueprint.hackclub.com/about/submission-guidelines - we need a LOT more screenshots of your CAD, a hand-drawn (could be analog or online) wiring diagram, and an image of your assembled plane with all its parts in your README.md. Thanks!

made the schematic
I tried to do myself the schematic for the electronics but I'm not sure that's exactly what you asked me... However, here is it :

I hope it'll now be good !

Cool project! But could you make the wiring diagram yourself? The text one isn't very detailed and the AI-generated one doesn't show all the connections. It would be better if you drew out the connections of each pin yourself using product images.

Schematic of the electronics
I made a simple code for the schematic on my repo :

I gave it to ChatGPT so he could generate an image (wich is easier to understand) :

Hope that my project is all good now !

Hi, you're idea is cool but could you add a schematic as this seems to contain some electric parts

I tested the plane !!!
After following the advices the pro gave me, I could finally test the plane. To see the final little flight test, you can check the demo with the youtube link (click the demo button).

I met model flying club members
After I went in a model flying site to test my plane, I met two professionals who gave me advices to improve my plane. They told my that as my plane was, it couldn't fly. I followed their advices and put the battery in the front of the plane to equilibrate the gravity center. I also removed the camera that I put just at the gravity center point to equilibrate again. And, from my own thinking, I glued a strong (but light) metal stick to the two wings to be less weak.

I painted it but...
Today, I tried to paint the plane but I did bad. I put some red paint on it and it spilled over. The result was so ugly so I tried to recover it up by putting adhesive to cover the paint splits. It now looks like a circus plane...

I changed the place of the battery
After I realized that the center of gravity of my plane was centered too much in the front of it, I decided to put the battery at the back of the plane. Now, the CG is pretty perfect !

I put the servomotors
I put the servomotors where they were meant to be and tried to link them to the ailerons and tailwing to control those. How I first did wasn't correct and the parts whose needed to move weren't moving enough. I tried to find a solution and finally just put some metal string at the end of each stick that was linking servos to movable parts. Now it works better but it took me a very long time to find the good solution as I tried a bunch of things before finding that good solution. I also put the motor (1000 KV) at the front of the plane with a 9047 propeller. All the elctronics (ESC, battery, cables, receiver) is now inside of the plane.

I re-made the structure
After a long thinking, I decided to re-make the central structure of the plane with the new styrofoam I got. Now, it looks cleaner and more professional. I also tested all the electronics that I received and all seams to work perfectly. The next step will be to put the motors, servo motors, battery etc in the plane (hoping everything will be ok)

I have finished the structure of the plane
Today I have finished the structure of the plane by making the wings and the tail in foam. The next steps will be to put all the electronics (I received them 1 week ago) inside of the plane etc. After that, I'll paint the plane.

Made a landing gear
Today I designed a simple landing gear. I will 3d print it and screw it to the plane. The landing gear is with 2 wheels that I also made. Here is the result :

(with the wings on the plane, the result is better but I needed to remove them to make a change.)

I made a 3d model of the plane
The other day I made a 3d model of my plane. I did it as usual in Fusion 360 and I made that only to help me to visualize the project. The only part whose missing is the tail (i'll make it when I'll do it IRL)

I designed a module to throw a parachute
I wanted to have the possibility to throw parachutes of the plane just by pushing a button on the remote controller that will activate a servo motor that will open a little door to release the parachutes. For that, I made a 3d file on Fusion 360 and I will 3D print it to glue it on the plane.
First version of my thinking :

Second version :

The two big "pins" are here to hang the servo motor.
- Update on that : I 3D printed it and I will show it to you guys when the plane will be finished and when I will have the possibility to glue it to the plane.

I made the wings
Today, I bought some more extruded styrofoam and made the wings of the plane with it. It took 2 hours approximatively. I still need more styrofoam but I will buy it when I will go in France in 14 days.
Here is the image of what I made today :

Hi - I love the project idea, but remember that Blueprint is for complete project designs, not JUST the ideas for them! Once you have your files and a repository to go along with them, you can resubmit, thanks! :D

The plans for the structure of the plane
You can find the plans I made to make the plane in styrofoam in the following PDF : SPIT G 01 (1)
It would be normal that you guys don't really understand those plans but I understand them so I can completly make the plane out of that.
See you soon !

Where did I buy all the components ?
I bought all the parts I needed from Aliexpress. I couldn't find cheaper that whatt I bought. I spent a lot of time to select each components (I am not counting the hours I spent for that in this journal entry because I already did in the last one)

Started making the first prototype of the plane structure
I first tried to find extruded styrofoam with a thickness of 6mm to make the structure. Where I live, in reunion Island, it was impossible to find that and I was so upset !!! As a soluce, I bought styrofoam but with a thickness of 60mm...
I had to cut the styrofoam to have 6mm parts but it was a hard task as I only had an hand saw to do it...
After that, I made plans on paper sheets to know how I would cut the different parts of the plane. I had to think about a lot of settings : rudder, elevation, lift, etc. After a lot of fails I finally did it and printed the last version of my plans.
The next thing I had to do was the making of the first prototype. I cut the styrofoam following my plans and glued all the parts together. I did not do the wings but only the central part because I needed to buy more sttyrofoam... I bought some of the electrical components I need on Aliexpress and I had them delivered to Fance, where my grandmother live (I go there In 15 days to make the last version of the plane and to assemble all the componants there).
I will inform you guys of the progress of that project !
see you
