Vacuum Tube Tesla Coil
There are lots of types of tesla coils, from the original SGTC that Nikola Tesla invented, to the newer SSTCs (even cooler variants of those like HFSSTCs and DRSSTCs). But there's one type of tesla coil that doesn't use modern silicon based components, but not the old spark gap method either, which is the VTTC. It makes 'sword-like' arcs and is a really interesting type of coil.

Research
I did some research on VTTCs as a whole and what specifications I'm going for. So far I think a single microwave transformer as the input is the best idea, and a GU-81M tube to do the switching. This should keep power high and costs somewhat low hopefully. MOTs are quite dangerous so I'm going to integrate an e-stop and go heavy on the insulation, I don't want to risk anything. I was thinking of doing an HFVTTC, and make huge plasma flames, but the secondary is very lethal on that and the ozone production is crazy. Also it'd probably destroy all the electronics in my household. So a regular 'sword-spark' VTTC is what I'm going with.
