Updated the design
Hi guys, I forgot to add this journal entry earlier, so I'm adding it now!
Design Update
I made the stand a little thinner because I realized that the extra thickness added more filament cost and print time. I changed the overall thickness from 0.25in to 0.15in

Repository Update
I've updated the repository with all the needed components.

redesigned the stand a little
Hi guys! I changed a little bit
Redesign
I added a border to the front side of the stand, because I thought that it looked weird having the pattern so close to the edge.
Updated README
I also learned how to fix my problem with broken images. Instead of using online image hosting, adding an asset folder and putting your images there will be more reliable.

Created the repository
Hey guys, I completed the README with pictures of the phone stand.
I feel like I didn't really explain my design process in my last journal entry, so I'll explain it now:
I noticed that many phone stands online had rounded edges, but I wanted the stand to have more of a futuristic feel. The hexagonal pattern gives off that futuristic feel, so I wanted to reflect on that and use sharper edges.
As for the reasoning behind the honeycomb pattern, I feel like it's unique, because many of the phone stands online just look like blocks that don't give off any feeling. If I want to buy something, I'd like it to actually have a feeling. Also, having a pattern often saves filament because the holes allow the printer to not print as much as it would on a plain box.

Finished the CAD
Originally, I wanted to have the hexagons cut straight through the stand, but then I realized that this may weaken the structure immensely. Also, in SolidWorks, the stand looked more like a glorified cheese grater, definitely not fulfilling my "Looks" criteria. Take a look for yourself:

I fixed this by extruding a layer in between the holes, so the holes wouldn't cut straight through. Here's the updated one:

It's cool learning that SolidWorks has a "Fill Pattern" tool built into it, it made this process way easier, and I'm definitely going to use it for my future projects.

Planning the build...
Hi guys! So I've been thinking, when I'm trying to bake bread, my hands are often busy and dirty when I'm trying to knead or mix ingredients. If I had a phone stand, it'd make it easier to see my phone from a distance rather than needing to stand over it.
Criteria
1. Size
I have an iPhone 13 Pro, so it must be big enough to accommodate that. After doing some research, I can conclude that it has:
a height of 5.78 inches
a width of 2.28 inches
a depth of 0.30 inches
However, I do have a phone case, so after measuring it with a digital caliper, I've got the following dimensions
a height of 6.15 inches
a width of 3.27 inches
a depth of 0.50 inches
2. Looks!
I want it to have a honeycomb pattern on the back. Like this:

I don't have a wide selection of colors, so I'll either print it in black or white.
3. Strength..?
PLA should be a good enough material to print this out of.
