Soldered pcb, and started testing

Ive soldered the parts onto the pcb, and started testing it.

Its my second time soldering, tho i realised the soldering iron wasnt the best. I did do it properly tho through alot of tries. It looks good now and as i said ive started testing.

Currently the keys are not clipped into the plate which is fine but that means you need some other way to hold the PCB in place. Either you can change the plate so that the switches clip into it, or you can add screw holes to the PCB and something to screw it down to in the case. You also have the leds on the front and from your assembly it looks like you want them to face up. The leds are reverse mounted so if you do want that you should put them on the back so they shine up through the the cutout in the pcb.

Hey, great work on this but can you add your CAD source files to the repo please!

Hey! I really like your PCB layout, but you still need to change some things.
1) You still have the old LEDs in your PCB, as already said by Shadow. If you need the library here it is: https://github.com/hackclub/hackpad/releases/tag/v0.1-bugfix
2) On switch 2 you have a unconnected trace on the second pin, please redo that trace so it has a proper electrical connection.
3) You also need to include the price of your PCB order in your BOM.
Aside from that. You have made a really neat hackpad!

Nice hackpad! Thanks for fixing the cad file formats, however unfortunately I noticed some errors in the schematic and pcb that needs to be corrected for all the components to work properly that previous reviewers

  1. in the schematic that you linked the oled up to 5v, it needs to be connected to 3v3, as the screen will not take 5v power
  2. you connected the SDA of the screen to gpio0/TX, which will not work, you need it to be connected to gpio6/SDA (which is currently connected to the LED)
  3. The led data pin should be moved to a different one to make space for the oled SDA usage

in addition to that, you would need to update some of the images in your README as they don't accurately reflect the current state of the build
I also noticed that in your cad the top cutouts for the keys are quite narrow. It is best if you leave a 19x19mm square open above wherever a key is, as that's the size of the average keycap, and if you press on it and the cutout is too small, the key will hit the case instead of bottoming out normally
Also, if you want the leds to be visible, you gotta leave a cutout on the top case for them too!

Besides that, as far as I can tell, everything is good, I like the triangular key placements!

Hey! The files for the case and the assembled model needs to be in STEP format and not STP , please update it thanks

hey! the schematic of the hackpad is a bit hard to read tbh. I would recc checking out https://blueprint.hackclub.com/resources/schematic-tips! Asside from that, one of the neopixels are missing a connection. Overall, nice hackpad! I love the layout. To specify more about it being hard to read, I would use global labels for the long wires!

Thanks for adding the combined model in your cad file, but also make sure to include an image of that in your readme! Also make sure your cad files are in .step form, not .stl :) Also also, please make a cap for your case! You'll be getting screws to use so you can have a full enclosed case after all :)

Hey! I can see that you have added the connector for the OLED but as of now it won't fit in correctly! Also you need to change the LEDs too. Please use the symbol and footprints for LED and OLED from here . Also please go through submission guidelines . Your case files need to be in STEP format. Also please have an assembled model of the hackpad with 3D models of different components such as PCB and OLED. Thanks!

Hey, it looks like your current hackpad is a copy of the guide - try to add a unique spin to it! Whether that be another key, led, rotary encoder, anything works :) You got this!
