An advanced but affordable fume extractor that would've cost a lot more if bought instead of built. Uses HEPA and Granular Activated Carbon that actually filters compared to carbon sponge.

Sourcing and making a start in CAD
The plan is to have something similar to a Kotto box, but a lot better. I plan to have both HEPA and Activated carbon to filter both particulate matter and VOC. This makes it more versatile and can be used beyond just soldering.
Mock-up of a 120mm blower fan and a divided section for the filter to go on top.
The current plan is to have a PD trigger and maybe a buck boost + PWM controller to get it to work but if a all in one packaged AC fan can work then maybe that might save more money? We'll see.
